Ibis Amsterdam City West

Mission

Manage the renovation of this pilot project for The Netherlands. A new standard lay-out was designed for all Ibis hotels all over the world. As a project manager we had to make sure that every new item became implemented in the right way. As this was the largest Ibis from all pilots the construction impact was bigger, therefore communication with the owner of the building, the hotel operations as well as the local authorities were extremely important. We decided to make two construction phases, starting with the first floor and second the complete ground floor.

This project was executed fron the position of employee within the Accor Netherlands team.

The Project

Together with the main contractor from Germany, the challenge was to keep the construction period as short as possible. Starting with heavy demolition work, removing steel staircases, the reception, the bar and all loose furniture. The new lay-out is partly based on wooden wall frames with nice prints on it. Nevertheless also the flooring, ceiling, lighting, interior and every loose item needed to be replaced. Special items for this project are the open reception desk which runs through in guest work stations, the guest information which is projected on the back cabinet, the lounge seats with printed ceilings, high and low seating.
