Opening Rosewood Amsterdam

In March 2018, C&R Hospitality Services and CTF Development embarked on the redevelopment of the former Palace of Justice on the Prinsengracht into Rosewood Amsterdam. Following an extensive two-year permitting process—closely coordinated with architects, consultants, and the municipality—the team successfully obtained one of the most complex approvals ever granted for a hotel development within a heritage building in Amsterdam’s historic city center.

Demolition began in 2020, and over the course of nearly five years, new foundations, extensions, a pool, and a five-star interior fit-out were delivered in close collaboration with multiple contractors. On May 1, 2025, Rosewood Amsterdam officially opened, marking the completion of this extraordinary transformation. With continuous support and commitment of CTF Development, led by James Broadbent (MRICS) and Dieter David Schoellnberger together with the Rosewood operational team, we made it possible to reimagine the Palace of Justice as an iconic and luxurious 5* hotel.

This project represents a unique achievement for all C&R Hospitality Services partners and team members; a collective source of pride and a lasting gift to the city of Amsterdam.
